What is Deutschlandsemesterticket?
Deutschlandsemesterticket is a discounted transport ticket for all students at Chemnitz University of Technology. It is valid for local public transport throughout Germany. The fee is paid upon enrolment or re-registration. Since the ticket is based on the solidarity principle, an attractive offer for the use of local public transport in Germany can be created for a price that is arithmetically lower than the price of the monthly ticket in Chemnitz.
What is a valid ticket for Deutschlandsemesterticket?
Deutschlandsemesterticket can either be used as a digital ticket, which can be obtained via the link https://stura.cc/meinticket, or a chip card, which can be issued by CVAG after application at Student Council. An identity document (identity card, passport) must be carried for verification. The TUC card with the imprint V STIK is no longer a valid ticket.
How can I display my ticket?
- Log in at https://stura.cc/meinticket with your university login and confirm the data transfer
- Click on "Deutschlandsemesterticket"
- Your ticket will be displayed here
What happens if I don't have internet during a ticket check?
Please upload the ticket to a wallet app beforehand to enable the ticket inspection staff to check it even without internet. A screenshot of the ticket is not sufficient!
Can I also store my ticket in Google or Apple Wallet?
Yes, this is possible. Please proceed as follows:
- Log in to the booking page with your university login and confirm the data transfer
- Click on "Deutschlandsemesterticket"
- Select "Add to Google Wallet"/"Add to Apple Wallet".
Can I also save my ticket in another Wallet app?
Yes, this is possible on Android. Please proceed as follows:
- Log in to the booking page with your Uni login and confirm the data transfer
- Select "Save to Stocard Wallet"
- Import the file
ticket.pkpass
into the desired wallet app.
What do I have to consider if I want to retrieve the ticket for the new semester after re-registration?
From the first day of the new semester, the ticket will be available at the link https://stura.cc/meinticket.
We recommend deleting the ticket from the wallet app and adding it again, even if it has updated itself. Unfortunately, it can happen that the new ticket period, e.g. the winter semester 2024/25, is displayed in the wallet, but when the ticket is scanned by control staff, the old semester, e.g. the summer semester 2024, is still stored. We don't understand that either 🙄
Wie kann ich das Deutschlandticket als Chipkarte benutzen?
Basics of using the chip card
The chip card is a newly issued Deutschlandsemesterticket and not an alternative access to the digital ticket. This means that the ticket can only be used simultaneously as a chip card or as an app ticket.
Fees may apply when issuing the chip card. Details can be found in the section ‘Chip card issuing’
Chip card validity
The maximum period of validity of the chip card is one semester. It can be applied for for any number of consecutive months within the same semester. The chip card cannot be issued retroactively and can be issued at the earliest in the month following the application deadline. The application deadline is always the 7th day of the month.
Due to the limited validity, a new application must be submitted for each semester, even for long-term use.
Application procedure
The application can be submitted informally to the Student Council. The application must contain the following data: some indication of application for a chip card
- First and last name of the applicant
- Address of the applicant
- If there are several addresses, please state the one closest to Chemnitz.
- matriculation number of the applicant
- desired period of validity
- if applicable, possession of a chip card for the Deutschlandsemesterticket from a previous period of validity
- optional: an e-mail address that CVAG can use for contact
The application documents can be submitted to the Student_innenrat in person, by post or by e-mail:
Student_innenrat der TU Chemnitz
Referat Verkehr
Thüringer Weg 11
09126 Chemnitz
E-Mail: ticket@stura.tu-chemnitz.de
Student Council will confirm receipt of the application. After submission to the Student Council, Student Services confirms payment of the fee for the requested period and removes the digital travel authorisation. The applications are forwarded to CVAG once a month for further processing.
Chip card issuing
Issuing of the requested chip cards and the associated communication will be handled by CVAG. With you explicit request we can also forward your e-mail adress to CVAG to ease this process.
CVAG will charge a one-off administration fee of €25.00 for the initial issue of the chip card. You will then receive the invoice by e-mail or post from CVAG. By submitting the application, you agree to pay this amount to CVAG.
In the event of repeated applications, CVAG will decide whether a new chip card will be sent to you or whether you will have to reactivate your existing chip card at their service centre at Zentralhaltestelle. Both options will be free of charge.
Is it enough to have a printout of the ticket with you?
No, as Deutschlandsemesterticket is a digital ticket, it is not permitted to present it in printed form.

The contribution for Deutschlandsemesterticket is always 60% of the contribution for the regular Deutschlandticket. The development of this and all other contributions can be found at Semesterbeitrag.
How can I get a ticket waiver or refund?
Requirements for an exemption or refund
Holders of the "Beiblatt des Versorgungsamtes", with a valid token (according to SGB IX) for the severely disabled person's ID card, are exempt from the obligation to pay contributions for Deutschlandsemesterticket at their own request. To prove that you meet the requirements, it is sufficient to present your severely disabled person's ID card with supplementary sheet and token to Student Services before enrolling or re-registering. The token must be valid for the entire semester.
Students who can prove that they meet one of the following requirements for at least three consecutive months within the validity period of Deutschlandsemesterticket can apply for an exemption or refund.
- Possession of a notice of ALG-II for yourself or your own dependent children,
- Exmatriculation in the course of the semester
- Enrollment during the semester
- Stay outside the area of validity of Deutschlandsemesterticket for one of the following study-related reasons:
- Semester of leave
- Completion of a thesis
- Completion of an internship
- Studying at another university
- Only for part-time students: Possession of a Deutschlandsemesterticket from the home university
Writing a (final) thesis outside of Germany without proof of necessity is generally not a study-relevant reason.
Application procedure
The application form must be completed and submitted to Student Council before the start of the period requested for exemption or reimbursement. If the reason for the application applies to more than one semester, an application must be submitted for each semester. The two pages of the application form must be on one sheet of paper. Evidence that can be submitted includes, for example, internship or Master's thesis contracts, confirmation of a stay abroad and certificates of exmatriculation or similar. The application documents can be submitted in person, by post, by fax or by e-mail to Student Council:
Student_innenrat der TU Chemnitz
Traffic Department
Thüringer Weg 11
09126 Chemnitz
Fax: +49 371 531-16009
E-Mail: ticket@stura.tu-chemnitz.de
Student Council will confirm receipt and decide whether an exemption is possible. This is the case if the application is submitted to Student Council before re-registration for the semester in question, including proof of the entire semester. If the re-registration took place before the application was submitted or the reason for exemption cannot be proven for the entire semester, only a refund is possible.
After submission to Student Council, Student Services will confirm payment of the fee for the semester applied for and remove the digital travel authorization.
If an exemption has been approved, you can re-register without paying the fee for Deutschlandsemesterticket after confirmation from Student Services. In the event of a refund, you have until 31 January for the winter semester and until 31 July for the summer semester to submit applications. Proof can be submitted by 31 January for the winter semester and by 31 July for the summer semester. After these deadlines, a decision on the approval of the reimbursement will be made on the basis of the evidence provided.
Approved refunds will be transferred by the Student Council by the end of the following semester.
In cases of particular hardship, further applications for exemption or reimbursement can be submitted informally to Student Council. In this case, we strongly recommend that you contact Student Council's Transportation Department before submitting your application to clarify which supporting documents should be submitted.
Do I also receive Deutschlandsemesterticket as a part-time student?
Yes, since the summer semester 2016, the student body contribution regulations also apply in full to part-time students. They are therefore obliged to pay the contribution to Student Body and the contribution for Deutschlandsemesterticket. It will be collected by Chemnitz University of Technology when the secondary student membership is extended. It is not possible to opt out of the ticket due to non-use. The regulations on exemption and reimbursement also apply.
The current fee and the development of the fee can be found at Semesterbeitrag.
Part-time students who already have a Deutschlandsemesterticket from another university can apply for exemption from Deutschlandsemesterticket at TUC (application before re-registration) or receive a refund (application after re-registration). Proof of purchase of Deutschlandsemesterticket at the home university for the semester in question is required.
