Deutschlandticket Upgrade

Here you will find all information about booking, payment and cancellation of the Deutschlandticket Upgrade, which we have made possible for you together with CVAG.

What is the Deutschlandticket Upgrade?

The Deutschlandticket Upgrade is a regular Deutschlandticket, but it is issued taking into account the fee already paid for the Student Annual Ticket. Thus, as a student of TU Chemnitz, you also pay a total of 49 EUR per month for the Deutschlandticket.

How much does the Deutschlandticket Upgrade cost?

The Deutschlandticket Upgrade costs EUR 17.12 per month in the winter semester 2023/24. The price is calculated from the difference between the price of the Deutschlandticket (currently EUR 49) and the price of the Student Annual Ticket (based on one month).

Until which date can I book the Deutschlandticket upgrade?

Booking is possible at any time, even for the month already in progress. Please note that the Deutschlandticket Upgrade will always be charged in full even if booked in the current month.

Until which date can I cancel the Deutschlandticket Upgrade?

Termination is possible at any time at the end of the current month or at a future date. Termination at the end of the month is thus possible until the last calendar day.

How do I book the Deutschlandticket Upgrade?
  1. Log in on the booking page with your university login and confirm the data transfer.
  2. Click on "Upgrade now" on the booking page of the Deutschlandticket upgrade.
  3. Select a start date for your subscription.
  4. Fill in the necessary personal data for ticket booking. Please enter the postal code of your place of residence during your studies (no matter if in Chemnitz or elsewhere). You can enter your university address or a private one as your e-mail address.
  5. Fill in the necessary personal data for billing.
  6. Choose a payment method.
  7. Confirm the terms of carriage, general terms and conditions and privacy statements of the responsible or involved companies.
  8. Click on "Order with payment obligation".

Please note that the Deutschlandticket Upgrade is a subscription that is automatically renewed until it is cancelled (or until the entitlement no longer applies).

What payment methods are available?

Payment methods available are direct debit, credit card (Mastercard, VISA, AMEX) and Paypal.

I booked the Deutschlandticket Upgrade for the following month and don't need it after all. Can I cancel it again?

Yes, as long as the month for which you booked the Deutschlandticket upgrade has not yet started, you can cancel it again.

What do I have to show at a ticket inspection?

At a ticket inspection you have to show your digital Deutschlandticket Upgrade, your Student Annual Ticket (TUC-Card or replacement ticket) and a personal document (ID card, passport).

How can I display my ticket?
  1. Log in on the booking page with your university login and confirm the data transfer.
  2. Your ticket will be displayed here.
What happens if I don't have internet during a ticket inspection?

Please load the ticket into a wallet app beforehand to enable the control staff to check it even without the Internet. A screenshot of the ticket is not sufficient!

Can I also store my ticket in Google or Apple Wallet?

Yes, this is possible. Please proceed as follows:

  1. Log in on the booking page with your university login and confirm the data transfer.
  2. Select your booked ticket.
  3. select "Add to Google Wallet"/"Add to Apple Wallet".

The ticket will be automatically updated in Google or Apple Wallet at the turn of the month.

Can I also deposit my ticket in another wallet app?

Yes, this is possible on an Android device. Please proceed as follows:

  1. Log in on the booking page with your university login and confirm the data transfer.
  2. Select your booked ticket.
  3. Select "Store in Stocard Wallet"
  4. Import the file ticket.pkpass into the desired wallet app.

The ticket will not be updated automatically at the turn of the month. Adding must therefore be repeated at each change of month.

Is it enough to have the ticket printed out with you?

No, as the Deutschlandticket is a digital ticket, it is not permitted to present it in printed form.

How to cancel the ticket?
  1. Log in on the booking page with your university login and confirm the data transfer.
  2. On the booking page, open the ticket you want to cancel.
  3. Click on "Cancel subscription" and confirm your cancellation.
I will soon no longer be a student, what will happen to my Deutschlandticket Upgrade?

Your Deutschlandticket Upgrade will also be cancelled when your upgrade entitlement expires.

Is there an app?

No, the booking page is only available via the link as a web app.
